Davies family 1861
« on: Saturday 31 December 05 19:23 GMT (UK) »
Good evening  . I have I believe the birth  certificate for my grandfather Howell Davies 8th February1861. It says that the father of Howell is Evan Davies and that he is a general labourer also that Howell's mother is named Mary.[Williams] So what I am looking for is a Evan Davies [labourer] maybe on a farm. In the registration district of Conwil , at a place named Cwmtawel, Treleach. Any assistance would be very much appreciated. Regards Alun.

Hi John I am indebted to you. Now I am being cheeky , do you happen to know if the family was still there in the 1871 census or 1881 census . I know Evan was deceased by 1887 when Howell married. I hope you have a very good New Year, thanks to you mine has started a day early.  Regards Alun.

Hi Alun - recently discovered this post as I'm also researching the Davies family of Trelech - Evan Davies is my three times great grandfather...I've found the census details of the family at Cwmtawel, and was just curious how much further back - (and sideways!) - you've been able to go! I'm related through Evan's son John Davies.

Hope there may be some information we could maybe exchange!

Thanks!

Allan
