Lyles in Cambridgeshire
« on: Saturday 10 January 04 17:52 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for any information about any Lyles who lived in England a long time ago.  I understand that a census was taken in the 11th century and was called the domesday project.  My ancestors were probably in Spain about 40,000 years ago, and migrated as far north as Denmark.  From there they came back south to the city of Lille France in Normandy.  Lille was spelled Lisle at this time, hence the name became de Lisle.  Later on the name became Lyles.  I believe the Lyles became Barons in Cottenham and had a manor house on Lyles road.  Even later on they may have fled to the Isle of Ely, before coming to the United States.  If anyone has any  information I would love to hear from them.  My email address is removed to prevent spamming Please put cambridgeshire in the subject, so I will know it is safe to read.  THANKS  Bob Lyles
