Kind regards Jack

Hello again Jack

I started looking for William & Sarah again (found some in Hackney in 1851) but it occurs to me that if you get hold of the wedding certs it would give you a much clearer idea of what you are looking for!

The William I have just found, for example, is a wine merchant's clerk.  If you knew his occupation it would help eliminate him - or confirm him.

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Since the Aston Tirrold baptisms were non-conformist the actual register itself may give further details. You sometimes find in non-conformist registers the mother's maiden name is given and also sometimes her parents names as well.
The majority of non-conformist registers were handed over at the start of civil registration in 1837 and the original registers are with The National Archives at Kew. They have been microfilmed and it is likely that Berkshire Record Office will have a copy, or you could order the film through your local LDS family history centre.

Regards

Valda

Jack,

Don't know about your 9aging) specific query but in the mid 1800s there was a number of Kirkpatrick brothers on the IOW and a couple of unmarried sisters lived together in the Henley on Thames or Reading area. LDS records may shed some light on them.

One (a James) went bankrupt - a (free) search for Kirkpatrick on Google will throw up some those details  - I saw a reference earlier today to Newport, Carisbrooke etc.

Another was a George. I think there may have been a William and a knighthood somewhere there.  I think they were lawyers.

My own notes show that on 20.08.1858 a James Kirkpatrick died at Newport IOW He was brother of a Samuel who was a grocer of 91 Queen St, Cheapside London. I don't know of a link to the Berkshire / Aston Tirrold & Uffington line but there may be one- certainly descendants of that family migrated to Caversham, Henley and London areas.

Nell: I'd love to have the references for the marriage of Sarah Sweet Hughes and Edward Kirkpatrick.  They are in my husband's Hughes line.  Thank you.  Leah Rudolph (new member)

Hi Leah,

Welcome to RootsChat.  :)

This is quite an old query - I'm having to think very hard!

They married in Carisbrooke parish church on the Isle of Wight on 7 September 1824.  The LDS church have filmed these records and you can order and consult the film at an LDS Family History centre for a small fee.

I'm also interested in a Thomas Sanden Godman Kirkpatrick, from the Isle of Wight. Specially interested in any marriages, children and his place of death, as well as any information regarding his travels to Central America.

regards,

Claudia Castro
