« on: Sunday 12 September 04 16:14 BST (UK) »
Hi
Can you help me please?

I am trying to locate a William (Henry?) BENNETT & family.
He was born on or about 1839 at Shelton,Staffordshire.

This information has been gleaned from the 1901 & 1881 census & BMD Certificates.

Regards
BenB

He was at Hornsey in Middlesex in 1891
47 St Joseph Rd
William Bennett, head 52, born Staffordshire

Maybe Chris will oblige with an attachment for you and save my typing! ;D

I'll see if I can turn him up on the 1861 but it might take a while as there is no name index and Shelton was a fair size.

Hi
Thank you for your efforts but...........
what with being this my first post & chat room use perhaps it is the way I requested the information?

The Middlesex side of the family I am happy with and  have fully researched as best I can the 1901 & 1881 census'

I am now trying to trace the father of William Henry, Rose, Florence & Arthur Edmund etc (these were born in Portsea) when their father (the one I am trying to trace) was in the Royal Marine Artillery a musician.

It is their father William  in the RG11 & RG13 who was born in Shelton, Staffordshire in 1839ish so he would have been 3yrs of age I am hoping to find his parents and where they were living in Shelton etc.

Having just an estimated year (1839) & an area (Shelton)Other than the censuses is there another way?

Thanks once again
BenB

Hi BenB
Nothing wrong with your posting at all.
I think that Chris and I both thought that since we couldn't help out with the 41/51 we would send you the 1891 as you didn't seem to have it and most people go for the "set".
Apologies for sending unsolicited goods! ;D
Hope someone can come up with what you want.

(Thanks Chris for the image - it is always nice to see it I think)

ps Do you have a marriage certificate for your William? That would most likley give you his father's name and occupation would  help with locating him in the census. Does cost though  :(

My thanks to
Megabelly for the 1851 census, Chris in1066land, & Gardener
You are right about the set - ta
The details of 1851 I am sure are spot on.
At the LDS/IGI I found details of William & Hannah but was unable to confirm if it was my family and now I am pretty sure.
Will the address of 228 Prospect Place help with the 1841 census?
Thanks I am really chuffed
