Staines Cemetery Lookup
« on: Sunday 12 September 04 08:07 BST (UK) »
This one is a stab in the dark - I have no idea how many cemeteries there are in Staines - hundreds no doubt!
I am seeking a burial location for William Wiltshire who died in the March Qrtr of 1919 in Staines.  He was stone/marble mason so probably had his work represented in some of the local cemeteries, churches etc.  If anyone can assist I would be most grateful.  Hard trying to do this sort of thing on the other side of the world.

Hi Kim,
I don't know if you are still looking re Cemetery? Anyway, greetings from Adelaide.
When I was looking for the burials of my Roberts family in Staines, I wrote to Parish of Staines, St. Mary and St. Peter. Staines. Address 6 Vicarage Rd, Staines, Middlesex TW18 4YF. I had a very nice letter back from the ChurchWarden, Mrs Bull. She gave me details of the family plot. Apparently a lot of inscriptions were collected by the West Middx Family History Society in 1984. I'm sure if you dropped the vicarage a line they would oblige.
Good Luck.
Bob Roberts.
P.S. Used to live in Launceston. Best State in Oz!!.
Roberts - Kent/Middx. Trow/Harris - Surrey. Johnston -Scotland, Lanarkshire, Barony (Glasgow). Brown - Buckinghamshire. Beale - Middx/Surrey. Hardwick - East London/Essex. Lambert - Norfolk/East London. Reddekopp - USA. Prescott - Berkshire/Ireland/Lincolnshire <br />Census information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Kim,

Since you do not give an exact address for your relative, I assume you are working from the index entry.  In which case beware, Staines is the registration district and covers a much wider area than just the town/parish of Staines itself.  It includes:
Ashford, Harlington, Harmondsworth, Laleham, Littleton, Cranford, Feltham, Shepperton, Stanwell, Sunbury, Hanworth, and East Bedfont.

Hi there!!

Do you have the death certificate?

If you do, it will give their address, which would narrow down possibly the cemetary you are looking for.

Good Luck
