Alexander Cameron & Ann Millar
« on: Thursday 22 December 05 14:08 GMT (UK) »
I have hit a brick wall on this branch of my family.
Does anyone have any information on Alexander Cameron b. about 1784 and his wife Ann Millar b. about 1788 who married in Glasgow on 7 Dec 1810? The IGI shows their last child Alexander born in Tradestown 26 Apr 1819 and I am trying to find a link between them and “my” Alexander Cameron(my g.g.Grandfather) and Anne Miller who had 4 children in Moray from 1821 to 1827. I have been unable to find many details on the latter and wonder if they moved up to Moray c. 1820. The “Moray” Alexander was employed as a Mason and this fact may provide a link if I can determine the occupation of the other. Any pointers and information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Ian Cameron

Yes thanks,I am waiting for a copy of their Marriage entry from them. I was hoping to be more sure before parting with £10 but finally sent for it. Trouble is, it may not tell me any more than I know already but fingers crossed.

I know, I hate to spend the money but I have found in the end, it has been helpful to get copies.  Even the smallest record seems to help or confirm what I thought I knew.

Happy holidays- Kristin :)

True, true. By the way, I see that one of your areas of interest is Bilton. That is very close to me and while I don't recognise any of your names, I would be glad to do any local look-ups if needed.
Have a great Christmas, Ian

What a kind offer!!  I will look at my notes and see if you can help me with any missing links.  My great grandmother was born in Bilton , worked as a governess for a "lord" and married a stone mason there.  They immigrated to the US in 1907 in order to find work (New York CIty was having a building boom at the time).  Anyhow, I am always looking for more on the family and will get back to you.

Thank you!- Kristin

You're welcome. My wife says that Bilton has an interesting history. One of our favourite walks with the dog is along the river bank of Nidd gorge, which leads all the way to Bilton, and where there are signs of previous iron ore mining and the remants of a mill and a weir.
