WIFFEN death or marriage
« on: Wednesday 21 December 05 09:32 GMT (UK) »
Could anyone help me locate the death of Martha WIFFEN please?  In 1901 she was listed as a widow living in Guisborough age 64 but I have searched the death indexes up to 1930 and cannot find her death.  She was born abt 1835 in Leytonstone, Essex, surname unknown, but she married a James WRIGHT, and then a George WIFFEN.  Its possible of course that she may have married again, so a record of a marriage would be most useful.

Many thanks

Andrea

From FreeBMD, there is one record of a Martha WIFFEN marriage between 1901 and 1911:

Surname  First name(s)    District  Vol  Page
~~~~~~~~
Marriages Mar 1905
~~~~~~~~
ALDERSON  Thomas    Auckland  10a 276
JOHNSON  Sarah     Auckland  10a 276
TARN  William     Auckland  10a 276
WIFFEN  Martha     Auckland  10a 276

I don't know if this will be the same one though.

Thanks Coffdrop, this one looks extremely likely after checking it out on the Durham registrars certificate search as she is listed as both Martha Wright and Martha Wiffen, married to Thomas Alderson.

Great stuff!  Merry Christmas  :)
