Loyalist Ancestors
« on: Monday 19 December 05 20:05 GMT (UK) »
I wasn't sure where to post this. Does anyone have any Loyalist ancestors? Loyalist being those unfortunate (or not) souls who chose to support England during the American Revolution.

Mine were tossed out and ended up in Ontario. I was just curious if anyone else out there had a similar ancestor.

Many of my lines were Loyalists, I am not sure if they got kicked out or not but I do know they left in a hurry  ;D ;D

They also ended up in Ontario as many did.  I have family back to Plymouth, Mass. in 1621 but all of my direct line left because they were loyalists.  A fact that of course makes me happy because otherwise I wouldn't be here (not in Canada but on the planet ) :D

I only said unfortunate because they were tossed out because of their political beliefs. I think it is cool.  8)
