Bianca,
Can't help a lot, However a little bit of trivia. I recently read about a chap - I think it was Sir Thomas Crapper from East Yorkshire who invented the flush toilet - Hence the names asosiation wit toilets.

A quick thought,
There were  some Cropper's just south west of Doncaster - a well known cricketer.

Hello you two

A good subject today, Thomas Crapper was reputed to have invented the flush toilet, but records show he improved the original design into a simple working unit. He started out in the Doncaster area moved to Sheffield and later went South to London hobnobbing with royalty, installing magnificent Crappers at Sandringham.

Back to your request  can you give us a few dates or ages we need somewhere to start.

Hello again

1901 Census Adwick on Dearne RG13/4407 folio 61 page 14
Ebenezer Crapper head M 43 Horseman on farm b. Stannington Yorks
May wife 39 b. Stannington Yorks
Norman son 10 b. Adwick Yorks
Ebenezer son 5 b. Sheffield Yorks
Harvey son 4   b. Sheffield Yorks     ( This could be Harry its hard to read )
John son 2  b. Adwick Yorks
Dorothy dau b. Adwick Yorks

Does anything ring a bell.
This Adwick is near Barnburgh not the one near Campsal
Stannington is on the outskirts of Sheffield.

I just wonder if crapper and cropper may be from the same families - certainly the areas, all being sth york's aren't too far away.

Hello Moira

Correct with the place of birth. Thomas Crapper was born in 1836 went to London in 1850 and died in 1910. How old was your dad.   ???  I thought I was the oldest one here.  :-\
