Hi Annie,

Thanks for your reply, is their any comparisons of my willmer line below to yours?

John Wilmer b1818
Harriet Mackness b1819
Wymington, Beds

Children
Atkinson Willmer b1846 d1936 (Siblings: Joseph & Elizabeth Willmer)
Mary Ann Burgess b1847? d1910
Rushden, Northants

Children
Arthur William Willmer b1882 d1956 (Siblings: Henry Willmer)
Rose Harriet Baldrey b1886 d1966
Rushden, Nothants

Children
Frank Willmer b 1921 d1994 (Siblings: Mary, Reginald & Percival Willmer)

Im trying to find Willmers pre-John & Harriet, as they appear living together in the first census I can not make the connection to his parents. I obtained a copy of their 1840 marriage certificate to discovered his dad was called Joseph Wil(l)mer however I can not locate any other records associated with him....

No connection as yet but they are a huge family and im sure we will find one. Mine are in Northampton, London and Olney. I felt sure i would get a link in Olney, but couldn't find it.
Looks like we shall have to think "outside the box".
Going back to the marriage certificate, who were the witnesses? Maybe you can find a sibling? Also did it state that he was "of this parish" or "outside of the parish"?
Have a look in the Parish records for other Wilmers' BMDs. You should be able to link the family that way.
Try baptism records, they would give you the mother's forename, then you can look for a marriage for the parents.
I have some parish records which i can look at later. Were they based in Rushden all of the time?

Hi.

Welcome to Rootschat Carl.  :)

There is the web site for Rushden folk here
http://www.rushdenheritage.co.uk/main-index.html

It notes some of your family under Genealogy or just search the site.

Rootschat is for our ancestors and therefore really anything after 1920 means
that people could still be alive.

I wondered if you may wish to amend your post or a mod may remove
living relatives.

Hi again Carl.

I wondered, is the marriage the one that took place in Wymington in 1840
at St Lawrence 21 Sep 1840.

This would mean obviously that they were still in Beds before moving over
the border to Northants.

There is a tree on Anc****  with some information about Harriet's
birth date etc, noted as dying on 30th Mar 1851.

She certainly came from Wymington.

It might be an idea to ask on the Bedfordshire Look Up Board
for assistance if you wish to research from John and Harriet.  :)

Or check on familysearch.org.
