John TAIT married Janet DORANCE on 24 August 1840 in West Greenock.

Together they had one child (that I know of):

Helen - born 1841 in West Greenock

If anyone has access to 1851/1861 census records, I would appreciate it if you could look up this family for me.

I have the 1851 Census index for Renfrewshire west. No Family with the forenames you have given were living in this area in 1851.

I have a record of John Tait and Janet Dorans (b 1816) from 1841 Greenock census, reference 34/10, sorry don't have the address, but the details were taken down by me personally whilst in Greenock.  Children are Helen b 30 June 1841, and John b 19 June 1843.

I have a Jane Tait Kennedy who married William Easton probably in Dumbarton around 1900-1905.  Jane's parents were Matthew Kennedy and Helen m.s. Kennedy.  Does this ring any bells with you?

Hi, I don't have access to census records but I do have some details.  John Tait, Janet Dorans or Dorence b 1816 m 24 August 1840, Helen 30 June 1841, John 19 June 1843.  John may have been married before to Helen b c 1811, producing Mary c 1829.

1841 census Janet aged 22, Helen 2 mths.  Sheena
