Tattersalls of Gargrave
« on: Thursday 08 December 05 09:26 GMT (UK) »
Has anyone out their got any Tattersalls from Gargrave in their tree?

I would like to hear from anyone who does as this line is not very productive at the moment.

Any info you may have found would be helpful to my quest.

Hi
Some of the children of my 5xg-grandfather, John TATTERSALL were born in Gargrave/baptised in Gargrave. The others were born/baptised in Long Preston, Skipton or Newchurch in Pendle.

John TATTERSALL, born 1965 married Ann WALSH born 1692 in Skipton on 7th January 1718.

Any good to you?  I have loads of TATTERSALL info.

Best wishes and Happy New Year,
Pauline in Darwen, Lancs :D

The line I am looking for starts with James Tattersall 1727 and Elizabeth Robinson 1731

They had a son one of many called Christopher 1763  His son Thomas 1789 married a Margaret Aldersley and produced 10 Children.

Ann his daughter married Francis Smith of Elslack and hence the line of Smiths begins.

If you have found any of these people in your research I would be glad to share the info.

John so far does not ring any bells, but he may have been a brother or cousin, you never know.

Hi Rowdy,
I can't connect to you yet but will carry on looking in my files.
I do have a TATTERSALL marrying an Ann ROBINSON in 1764 in St Leonards Church at Downham.  Ann came from Downham.
I also have a TATTERSALL marrying an ALDERSLEY.
Since the Tatts tended to have very large families, we could possibley be distantly related.

My email address is Phodkinson@aol.com if you want to keep in touch.
Best wishes, Pauline

Hi Rowdy. I am the great grandaughter of David Smith ( born 1840 Eslack) who immigrated to New Zealand. I believe he his the son of Francis and Ann Smith. They also had a daughter they named Ann Tattersall Smith so I am sure this is the right connection. I would be grateful if you could send me any info on this line of family from David backwards. I live in Australia but all my Smith family is in New Zealand. My Mum is David's Granddaughter.  Mum turns 78 next month. We are planning a trip to uk next year and doing some family research before we go.
Thanks in advance for any help and look forward to hearing from you. Glenys.

Have sent you a personal message of this as well but thought I would post here as well.

Hi

Has anybody got a Martin Tattersall married to 'Susan' who was in the Sowerby Bridge area around 1800/1810, in their tree?

I suspect he may have originated in the Burnley or Elland areas, was a coal miner at one point and may have moved to the Manchester/Salford area.

Any offers accepted cos I'm stumped. ;D
