MORRISON
« on: Tuesday 07 September 04 20:52 BST (UK) »
I have the MORRISON in my tree tracing back to my gt. gt. grandfather George MORRISON.   This name was carried on as a middle name for several generations after, both for boys and girls.   George was born in Scotland about 1815 and he married Amelia McGREGOR in 1837.
If any of this rings bells, I would love to hear from you.

Hi Swinging60

Are you doing a One Name Study on the entire family name or are you just after information on particular individuals?

If the latter is the case I will gladly move the post for you to a more relevant board which may help to generate a response for you.   Please let me have any information on possible locations (County etc.) so I can place it in the right board.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Would like to hear from anyone researching Morrisons in N. Ireland, Ireland or Scotland concerning possible participation in a study of relationships between various Morrison families and their origins.

I don't know if it counts as a 'one name study' but I collect all Morrisons in Scotland - particularly in Stirlingshire and Dunbartonshire that I come across, hoping to find a connection to my brickwall Morrisons namely:

Andrew MOR(R)ISON married Margaret BAIRD,  2 Nov 1800  in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland.  The actual OPR record says nothing other than 'both of this parish' i.e. Falkirk, it doesn't mention any variants such as Landward.

They had 5 children:

William. Born on 17 Apr 1804 Christened on 29 Apr 1804 in Old or West Kilpatrick, Dunbarton, Scotland.

Mary. Born on 5 Jan 1806 in Old or West Kilpatrick, Dunbarton, Scotland. Christened on 19 Jan 1806.

Christian. Born on 4 Oct 1807 Christened on 11 Oct 1807 in Old Kilpatrick, Dunbarton, Scotland.

Alexander Born on 19 Nov 1809, christened on 3 Dec 1809 in Old or West Kilpatrick. Alexander died in Barnford, Drymen, Stirling, Scotland on 2 Jul 1889, aged 79.  He married Mary Stirling in Killearn on 26th Nov 1830 by which time he was spelling his name Morrison.

Andrew. Born on 14 Sep 1811. Christened on 22 Sep 1811 in Old Kilpatrick, Dunbarton, Scotland.

Hello Barbara,

You don't say in which country Elijah died? Do you know who his parents were?

Let me know and  I will have a look for you.
