Clothworkers Company
« on: Monday 05 December 05 14:56 GMT (UK) »
Hello
would anyone happen to have any information on the Clothworkers Company ?
My Paternal main Surname interest is Crook.  It seems several generations worked in the Clothworker industry.  My 4th Great gradfather Thomas is listed as a clothworker on his Son James Crook Marriage certificicate.  James is listed as a Tailor.  Is the term Clothworker a generic catchall for all occupations working in the cloth industry.
Also does the Clothworkers Company hold records.  Is the clothworker Company like so sort of union ?  Would everyone working in that field need to be a member ?
Any info would be helpful.
Mary
