Hi Ian
I see on the 1851 it says Samuel was born Morley.
I have been through the 1841 Bollin Fee Pownall Fee and Morley.
Sadly Morley is completely illegible, blank in fact. Bollin Fee and Pownall Fee fair not much better, mostly illegible.
The only clear Worthington's were
Top of the Town
Mary Ann Shaw 18 Ind
John Shaw 14
Edwin Shaw 13
Charles Shaw 11
William Shaw 4
John Worthington 10 Lab
Farmfold Cottages
John Worthington 41 cotton mixer
Barely readable was
Lifeless Moss Hough Wilmslow
Jas Worthington 60 Occ (unreadable)
Sarah or Mary 50
Mary 20 occ cotton (unreadable)
Edward 15
E...? (female) 13
Ph....?(male) 10
Sarah 1
Davie Row Bollin Fee
Isaac Worthinton 25 cotton warper
Mary Worthington 15 cotton warper
I'm sorry to disappoint you, but the census is very bad indeed.
Your best bet would be to send for Samuel's marriage certificate and get his Father's name and occupation from that, then try to find a marriage of his Father to find out his Mother's name.
Kind regards
Su
