1841 Lookup Please, EARWAKER/EARWICKER
« on: Monday 05 December 05 00:33 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I'm hoping someone with access to the 1841 census could do a look-up for the following chap please?

HENRY EARWAKER (may be spelt Earwicker) born around 1815ish in West Meon, Hampshire.

I'm assuming he'll be in West Meon or nearby.  He married at Alverstoke in 1842.

In 1851, he is a servant, 1861, a butler, 1871 former Coachman.

Many many thanks
Helen x

Hello Helen,

I am centering my Family search in and around West Meon and can tell you that Earwakers have been prominent folk around there. Seem to remember it being spelt Earwacker. They are not the family I'm chasing but couldn't help noticing them!

Will let you know in future what information I come across regarding them.

Hi Izzemouse,

Thanks so much for replying  :)

I'd be thrilled if you stumble accross anything on my Earwakers/Earwickers or even Earwackers.  I've even one transcribed on the 1861 as Earvckar!  I'd love to hear anything at all, big or small.

Best Regards
Helen x

Hello again Helen, Happy New Year to you!

This just to let you know that I found the following during one of my TRODD chases.

May be worth your time looking up HAMPSHIRE SURNAME LISTINGS if you haven't already.

www.county-surnames.co.uk/list

An Alan Earwaker can be found in the site checking out the Earwaker family. He has apparently also come across the spelling ERRICKER's!

I stumbled across the site by entering: West Meon +hampshire +1800's into Google Search Engine.

Hope it proves fruitful for you

Hi Izzemouse,

Happy New Year to you too!

Thanks so much for thinking of me and my Earwickers/Earwakers etc etc!  Very nice of you.  The link you've given didn't work but I've managed to get to the site.  It's not one I've seen before so many thanks!

I've tried to view Alan's website but nothing seems to happen - so I think I'll register through the site you've told me about and contact him that way.

Thanks again and best wishes for 2006

Helen x

Welcome to RootsChat.   :)

Helen hasn't been online for a couple of years.  Many more records now available.  I've done some checking and found a Henry Earwaker baptised in West Meon 23 June 1816 son of John & Mary.

And then there is your Henry baptised in 1812, son of George and Charlotte.
