Hi there John,
I was just browsing and came across this thread, about three or four minutes ago I posted a message on the bible page – the bible in question was belonging to a relative of the Doxey family so you may want to have a look, here is the posting

I recently found this family bible for auction on ebay, there was a remote possibility that it could have belonged to my ancestors. But unfortunately it had been sold only a few days before for what can only be described as a giveaway price. Although I missed out on this bargain I would be interested to know where it ended up if anyone knows how I can find out please help.
Have a look at the bible on this site.

Hello Denn,
Many thanks for the info on the bible I will check it out. I notice you are researching Platts, they were well established in Thrybergh the most famous being one John Platt during the 1800's. The name was still there when I left in 1969.
I am in Sydney on the other side of the big Island, just getting ready to watch Friday night Rugby [ football here in Australia ]
Best Regards,
John

You are right,
what a bargan! the bible is fantastic. I don't know if this family of Doxey's is related to me but it is possible. There were a lot of Doxey's in the Wirksworth area, I am stuck around 1790 with my tree due to lack of records.
Thanks again Denn

Hello Everyone,

I posted this message yesterday, but for some reason it hasn't appeared-so I'll try again!

I was born in Thrybergh as was my husband and we lived there for over 40 years. If anyone wants any current info or is trying to contact anyone, then we may be able to help.

Jean :)
