Possiibilty of publishing an aide to Norfolk research
« on: Friday 02 December 05 08:18 GMT (UK) »
Francis BLOMEFIELD (1705-1752) published a history of Norfolk in the mid-18th century. It contains a great deal of information which would benefit those interested in both family and local history. The history was republished in 11 volumes in the early 19th century, but it's difficult to gain access to it if you don't live in Norfolk. Occasionally a copy comes up for sale, for example at http://www.rootschat.com/links/035/   which is fine if you have a couple of thousand lying around doing nothing. The URL given provides a good description of the work.

A publisher of facsimile books on CD may possibly be in a position to produce a copy of the entire work, thus making it available to a worldwide audience. To try and persuade him that sufficient people might be interested (and thus make its production economically viable) it would be useful to gauge interest amongst the likely purchasers.

This is not a committment to purchase - but - if this would be of interest and you would consider purchasing a facsimile copy on CD, would you be kind enough to drop me a line at my e-mail address which is gpclowe[AT]btinternet.com and I'll see if there is sufficient backing to tip the scales in our favour.

Thanks

Some of these volumes are now available online as downloadable pfd files, courtesy of Google Books.

There appears to be an error with the link to volume 3.

I do have pdf copies of volumes 2-10 (including the proper vol 3), but all too large to upload. I can, however, transfer them to anyone who has a 'dropbox' account.

It's free, and good for larger files.

Anyone interested can contact at (*), or on my Norfolk Ancestors facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/302690316491551/
