Immigration lookup/ Census 1850/1860
« on: Wednesday 30 November 05 05:48 GMT (UK) »
Looking for a Robert Bullen born abt 1788 England who possibly travelled to USA between 1850 and 1870. He was found in the USA 1870 Census living with Robert and Anne Gallington who went to USA in May 1851 travelling on the Wisconsin which ended up in New York.  In 1870 they were living in New Haven Connecticut.  Unable to find him in the English census of 1851 or 1861 so may be he was in the US then.I think he is Anne's father but not sure on that.

Thanks

Thank you both for the information. It appears that Robert went to USA at the same time as his daughter.  Does the US census give relationship to head ofthe house as the English one's do. It might help me identify the Bassets as to whether they were relations (possibly not as they were all born USA) or whether he was a boarder with the Bassets. Do you have an address in the 1860 census ?

Thanks

Sorry the 1860 census does not give relationships nor is there a proper address.
