Not sure if I am on the right board or whether anyone can help but...  I am wanting to find out who lived at 15 Mitchell Street U.D. in 1922.  From the certificate in my possession, it is in the sub-district of East Manchester in the County of Manchester.  Have tried doing a route map but the only Mitchell Street seems to be in Eccles which, from my road map, is west Manchester.  Can anyone out there help or point me in the right direction so that I can make further enquiries.  Any help would be appreciated.  Many thanks.

Zephyr

Hi

Multimap shows three Mitchell Streets to the immediate east of Manchester, postcodes M11, M24, M40.

This is the link:

Thanks for that Marie.  RAC and AA only come up with the Eccles address!

Hi
Not sure how you go about it but I assume you can get names of residents of particular properties from registers of voters. It's not a source I've used so far but another post on the request board with something appropriate in the subject line could probably help you locate the old registers.

Best wishes

Marie.

Hi Marie - thanks for that additional information.  I must admit that using the electoral rolls is something I've not done either, but it's probably worth a go!

Hi Marj

Thanks for the info.  If I can somehow confirm that the Openshaw Mitchell Street is the one I'm looking for then I now know where to download a photograph!

Thanks for your interest.

I also have a birth certificate for a family member in 1923 with 15 Mitchell Street as place of birth, understand it was where you went to have your baby if you were unmarried but not sure if it was a home/ workhouse etc.

Have you any other info about this mysterious address.
