Oh that's lovely. 

She was a new mother and had two family members there to help.  Don't you just love that kind of detail!

The  visitor who was a school teacher may have been a friend of his wife's as her father was:

Wiliam NORTHORPE  of  Cullingworth, York and a School Master

Thanks again.  It just goes to show that the visitors can be just as interesting as the main members of the household.

Lovely to know her kids were still around after the father died.

Thanks again too Annie - I had no idea that his business was actually that interesting.  He started as an importer of tiles and went on to manufacturing tiles and parquet flooring.  I had assumed it was all rather domestic (I should have known better from the Sichel experience!)

Silly me I forgot all about "Lehmann" and you've found a marriage to another of the Newton sisters.  So Albert married Grace Newton and Lehimann (my confusion caused by him being called Schuman on the 1881 census) married Edith Newton.

PS by the way I forgot to mention earlier on 1861 census Ludwig employed 11 men!
also interesting that his landlord was a School Master!!
