Hi 

On the trail of the family of Ludwig Oppenheimer who was a manufacturer of mosaic tiles and parquet flooring in Manchester.

In 1861 he may have been living at Crowcroft Cottage, Levenshulme

In 1871 he may have been living at 64 Mulberry st. Hulme

In 1881 he was married to Susan and was living at 102 Burlington St Chorlton on Medlock with his children:

Schuman OPPENHEIMER     12      
 Ludwig OPPENHEIMER       10     
Albert OPPENHEIMER         7          
 Charles OPPENHEIMER       5      
 William OPPENHEIMER       3

Ludwig senior died in 1901 so I am not sure that he would have been on the census.

Yes I found his death and his wife was Scottish I believe and her surname was Findlay (married in 1869) but I'm not sure who the family he was boarding with are.  Does it say what the Head's occupation was?

Hi Iria,

It does help. 

I've just been double checking what I had for his children and I don't believe there were any girl children so it should make it easy to find two of the sons on the return for 1901:

Ludwig Oppenheimer (jnr) b: 1870 in Chorlton m: 1897 to Jessie Northrop in Chorlton

Albert Oppenheimer b: 1873 in Chorlton m: 1899 to either Grace Newton or Mary Wright in Stockport

Charles Oppenheimer b: 1875 Chorlton m: 1903 to either Clara Cartali or Constance Taylor in Chorlton

William Renwick Oppenheimer b: 1877 m: 1904 to either Caroline Goodwin or Edith Lee in Bucklow

Obviously Charles and William won't be on the 1901 census, but it doesn't hurt to let you know.
