Really odd .. I was about to list a Coronation cup on Ebay and was doing some research on it, and it Googled roots chat. If anyone is interested its a King George v & Mary June 22nd 1911 coronation cup.. on the reverse is the coat of arms of the borough of Lewes and underneath is the name Holman. Mayor. I don't mean to use the site to advertise , just if its of interest to anyone.

Hi
I,ve attached two photos, hopefully correctly!! As I said It was coincidence that I was researching the cup prior to listing on Ebay when I found your thread. I don't know wether I should enclose the Ebay link, as it may not be ethical to do so. funny thing is, I used to live in Sussex in the sixties and still have a fondness for it. Lewes is actually a lovely old town with really interesting history. I spent many happy times there, before returning to Northern Ireland.

Hi
I'm glad the photos were of interest. Yes it was sold on Ebay about 2 weeks ago for about £5 ( a fortune!!) to a person in Derbyshire although their was an initial bid from someone in Lewes and I had hoped it would go there, its home so to speak. Anyway good luck on your research.

Just joined RootsChat and am interested in the same George Holman who is my cousin's great-great grandfather. I believe that he was born in Lewes in 1851 but I'm lacking information on his death. If my genealogy is right, his father was Frederick Stedman Holman (1814-1869). I believe that the family tree then includes a John Holman (1765-1855) and an Anthony Holman who was High Constable of Lewes in 1667). Can anyone help with more information?
