Hi Jen
I'm new to RootsChat and have noticed that you have a lot of information on 'Taylor'.  My father and uncle were builders in Swansea but not from Brynhyfryd but maybe there is a connection somewhere.  My grandfather was Herbert Price Taylor and lived in Cadle Mill, Fforestfach and my great-grandfather was Charles Taylor.  He was originally from Marden, Hereford but moved to Swansea via Llandebie, Carmarthenshire.  Charles was married to Elizabeth in the 1871 Census and she was from Mainstone, Montgomeryshire.  I've checked marriage registers and found a marriage between Charles Taylor and Elizabeth Mills in Leominster in 1858.  Contrary to that I have a Charles Taylor as single in the 1961 Census living with his father John Taylor and his brother John and family.  There seems to be some discrepancy with his age - from the various census reports he was born somewhere between 1827 and 1832.  Any chance that there is a connection?
I'll be visiting Swansea in the summer holidays (I now live in Germany) so hopefully I'll be able to trace some more then.
Here's hoping that you can help me

Hi Jean,

Welcome to RootsChat !  Gruß Gott !, Servus !  Willkommen !

Due to other commitments, Welsh Jen is only "appearing" on RootsChat sporadically, at the moment.
So if she takes a while to answer, please don't feel you're being ignored  :)
She'll get back to you some time, I'm sure.

In the meantime, enjoy RootsChat, and if you need help tracing your family further, then why not post a request, with all known details, and we 'll see what we can do !

Good luck, good hunting, and much success

Hi Jen,
I am researching Cann family connections with Westleigh in North Devon, and see that you have also researched this family.  As Westleigh is such a small village I feel that our researches may well link at some point.

The earliest family I have is William Cann, b. Westleigh C1802, and his wife Ann, b. Westleigh C1810.  William's occupation was Schoolmaster, and it has been handed down through the family that he only had one arm.  His son John (my g.grandfather) was b.Westleigh C1841 and a house painter by trade.  He was responsible for the redecoration of Tapeley House just outside the village.

I have some records of John's decendants.
