I finally got through all my Rookwood Independant visits.  Here is the last one for the Seamons family.  There were actually three burials at the site:

And here is a photo of Independant Section A at Rookwood:

Soozworld,

I stopped by the Anglican office (not my favourite Rookwood experience I must admit), and asked about the Salier monument.  Apart from three stillborns (apparently without monuments) there were no Saliers near that office.

Your parents might have confused it with the Independent Office.  Next time I'm there I'll ask where it is in the Independent Section.

Darryl,

I didn't make it to the Catholic section this trip.  Next trip.

Cheers

Oh? So sorry about that...My parents said they thought he was Church of England, and my tree says his father was a Congregational Minister in London. Does that make him Independent?
I understand it's a big place out there!
I've been to the Brookwood Cemetery a few times, that's pretty big too, as it was used for London.
I eventually found what I was looking for! My parents went when I was heavily pregnant, so I couldn't go, but they found the graves pretty quickly on their first (and only) visit.
Hope you get a chance next time, I truly appreciate your efforts!

Sue,

Congregational is definitely the Independant section.  To be honest I think the name 'Salier" rings a definite bell.  I've probably walked past the monument and read it any number of times.

There are a number of rather elaborate memorials to ministers of religion outside the Independant office (but none outside the CofE).

I'll have another look next time I'm out there.

Cheers

Hi Leonie (or anyone kind enough to visit Rookwood please)

I would like to know if a headstone (s) exists for the following people. They may have been re buried in one or many graves - but should all be together.

Thomas Medcalf died on 9 August 1874 and was buried 11 August in the Devonshire Street Cemetery. He was 63

Almost 30 years later the Devonshire Street Cemetery was to be demolished to make way for the expansion of the Central Railway Terminus in Sydney. Exhumation requests were authorized allowing the remains of Thomas MEDCALF, Stephana Ann MEDCALF (wife of Thomas), Amanda MEDCALF (daughter of last two) and Charles Cole MEDCALF (son of first two) to be buried together in the Congregational Section of the Rookwood Cemetery.

I would like to know if there is a headstone (or multiples) with any inscription and what these may say. A photo would be a tremendous bonus if that is possible please.

Many thanks
Di

Hi Carol,

Thank you so much for that information.

Could you please confirm that these were the only Medcalf family members in Rookwood.

I noticed that I had the date of death for Thomas as 1874 and you have 1871 - do you know which is correct?

I am surprised that they are buried in different parts of the cemetery but with the site numbers hopefully a kind person may be able to take some photos for me - PLEASE  ;D

Regards
Di
