Template forms for checking BMD
« on: Friday 03 September 04 17:08 BST (UK) »
I have to confess to being terribly disorganised. Every time I go to the records office I end up Like Columbo, pulling pieces of paper from my pockets and writing down the information I find just about anywhere I can.

Can anyone point me in the direction of where I might find/buy usable template forms for recording searches of births, marriages and death records?

I'm determined to get my records into some type of sensible order, and would be really grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of a decent way of recording this information.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give me.

Andy

I am sure you could type one up, save it and print it off before you need to record such Births / Marriages or Deaths. I wouldn't purchase such things as things can get expensive after a while.

All I can give you is this link:
http://www.ancestry.com/trees/
Scroll to the bottom of the page and to your right should be a section "Charts & Forms" from there you can download free forms / charts. It doesn't include recording BMD's though.

& For Census data try:

This one is Americanised but you can change it to suit

Hope this is some help to you

Hallo Andy, I suspect we have all been like Columbo at some point. I think requirements may vary from person to person. For anyone lucky enough to have no brickwalls their search will be a leisurely saunter from one record to another - like picking cherries!
But for most of us it will be a case of researching the 'most probable' and recording the results of that research even if it is a complete failure so that you know just where you have been and what you have found and you don't duplicate anything.
I knocked up a form for baptisms that helps me keep on track. It is attached
