Stow MI, Midlothian at SGS premises LUMSDEN
« on: Wednesday 16 November 05 20:58 GMT (UK) »
Anyone happen to be a member of the Scottish Genealogical Society who'd care to do a lookup on their next visit there? This is a wee bit tricky for me as I am in Australia. I am interested in LUMSDEN deaths listed (and would really appreciate a lookup!).
cheers

Hi

My Lumsden ancestors lived in Stow parish from 1700s  to early 1900s.   The Borders Family History Society have now transcribed all stones at Stow but I think it willbe some time before they are published.   I have a list of all burials in Stow 1820-1854 and have all the transcriptions for all Lumsdens which I did a number of years ago plus photographs - some are now broken or not so clear.   If you can give me an idea of their names and dates I will be glad to help and it would be interesting to know which line you are researching - they start from James Lumsden & Marion Thin(e) when they arrived in Stow Parish in 1768 and before.   There are a lot of families descended from them but only two or three which I lost so maybe your ancestor is one of them.

Cheers
Anne
