WESTWOODS of Harborne

 I'm trying to find information on the Westwood family of Harborne, they moved to manchester around 1870, but I'm looking for info before that.
So far I have Samuel Westwood, born about 1826 Harborne, he married Elizabeth, surname unknown, and their first child was Edward Charles Westwood, born 1849 Harborne. In the 1851 census, their address was Greenfield Road, Harborne. I'm trying to find the details of Samuel and Elizabeths wedding, inc.maiden name. Also Samuels family, his parents any siblings etc. I've searched freebmd and the igi, but to no avail.

Hello Benn, I have just signed up to this site and note that you are looking for information on the Westwoods of Harborne. I am a direct descendent of John Westwood b 1792 in Harborne and who farmed Shendley Court Farm. We have no Samuel in our tree, however, like you I am seeking information and wonder whether Samuel could have been a nephew of Johns. I have no details at all of John's siblings.  I have full details of Johns children should that be of any interest to you. All were born in or around Harborne. John's son Frederick also moved to the industrial north in the 1860s (to Sheffield) & I wonder if that could be linked in any way to Samuel's move to Manchester. Probably due the closure of farms with Birmingham's rapid expansion.

My grandfather's cousin did some research and I am more than happy to san that for you if you care to send me your email details.

I have a Westwood in my family tree she's from harbourne. there were at least 10 family's in and around that area and I suspect they were all interalated.  Anyway, what your looking for is Samual Westwood married Elizabeth Carless July-Aug-Sept quarter 1847 volume 18 page 495 taken from the G.R.O registar. I hope that's some help.
