Weynberg and Kight in 1861 indexes
« on: Wednesday 01 September 04 20:51 BST (UK) »
Hi all,
I usually post in the Essex forum, but I need the index reference for a Myer Weynberg and Eliza Kight in the 1861 indexes. I have the census, but this could take for ever. The Weynberg are in Bell Lane, Whitechapel in 1871, aged 14 as is Eliza aged the same. I am doing some searching for a colleague.
        Any help very much appreciated.
Thanks
Kevan

Oops! Ignore my last posting I now realise you are looking for Eliza KNIGHT aged 4 in 1861.  Found only one but it is only a partial index:

Eliza Knight 4 Clerkenwell, St James. RG9/191 47b

Noticed we are both researching BEARD.  Mine are from around High Easter, Essex - any possible connection?

Hi all,
Thanks, but no luck, methinks. Eliza Kight is 14 in the 1871 census and shown as born in Bethnal Green. Her elder sister, Harriet is 16 and born in Shoreditch. Parents are George Kight and Harriet aged 40 and 39 respectively. I reckon they are about and will search these census at some stage, but they are hard work.
The weynberg, I found as Weineberg on the 1871, and just show as born in Middlesex, bur are in Bell Lane, Whitechapel in 1871, I think the civil parish of Christchurch. Parents are born in Holland, as are some of the eldest children.
The story goes as this, at the Havering Town show, we were running a charity stand and occasional people came and researched their family history on some computers we had set up in the middle of a field. It was intriguing how few people were aware of the 1881 census, and a lady with her mum was devouring the 1881 census and everything that she could find.
Since then, I have found the 1871,1891 and 1901 entries and posted these on, and desperately trying to find the 1861 entries. It took a few attempts due to a hotmail a/c mailbox being full, so she created a new email a/c elsewhere, just for this.
I was impressed by a complete thirst for knowledge that was so obvious in their search, and enjoy doing this for a hobby anyway - perhaps I will make some money out of it in my retirement! (A long way off).
I think a definite new researcher who will be reading this tomorrow, and probably a regular poster.

That'e enough of me spouting on.
Thanks again to everyone.
Best
Kevan

Hi Joyce,
As regards Beard, you can view everything I have in my tree, most are from the Lexden area of Essex, through Terling and then marry into the Littlechild family. I usually start a mini one-name study for the area, and have added a few in that area that are not actually relatives.
The interesting part of this Beard family is that many of the earlier (abt 1820) are originally Smith, children of a Grace Smith - and then change their names to include Smith as their middle name later on. I reckon a rich Beard is the father, and Grace is a mistress. Just a guess.
            Tree is at http://essex1841.com/Legacy/index.htm
