Hi!

On the International Genealogical Index (www.familysearch.org) you can do a search by entering the names of the parents.

If you select the region as British Isles, country as England and county as Sussex and enter the father as John Millyard and mother as Hannah it shows 12 children, all christened at Walberton, including the three you have mentioned.

You can also do a similar lookup to find details of the children of John + Charlotte Millyard and Thomas + Mary Millyard etc, as hopefully you will be able to find details of the marriages of more of John and Hannah's children either from the IGI or the census returns.

Hope this helps!

Ooh!  Look here under "Other Trades and Idustries":

http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.asp?compid=22948#s14

Back to 1841 Walberton Census:

HO107/1090/11

Schedule 21, Pages 17 and 18 (next door to Mr Raymond Ellis who, I think but could be wrong, was also the Parish Clerk):

Thomas Booker, 45, Ag Lab
Henry do, 20, Ag Lab
Harriott do, 15
James do, 15
Thomas do, 14, Ag Lab
Jane do, 10
William do, 7

All born in Sussex.

Sorry - here's something I missed before:

Schedule 14, Page 4

Thomas Millyard, 55, occupation illegible, born in Sussex

and next-door-but-one

John Millyard, 65, Carpenter
John Booker, 20, Patten Maker
Charlotte do, 20
John do, 2

All born in Sussex

Schedules 15 and 16, Pages 6 and 7:

Reuben Booker, 30, Ag Lab
Charlotte do, 25

Both born in Sussex

Schedule 20, Page 16:

In household of Schoolmistress Phebe Lucas,
Ann Booker, 12, F.S., born in Sussex

I've noticed that Mr Ellis had an "interesting" way of spelling for a schoolmaster and that even the occupation as well as the name he spelt as "gardiner".

hmm it's all so interesting.....

i know of a reuben born 1808....but that would make him 33 in the census....not 30 like you stated.....so maybe it's a different one! i keep finding that just when i think i've found an almost match it isnt quite and it turns out to be a cousin! - it makes you wonder why they couldnt think of any new names to use!!!
