Chris,

I don't know if she had any siblings. I presume so as she came from a catholic family.

Here is an update on my search for my grandmother, Annie Rooney. After years of searching I have finally found her. I manage to find her daughter from her second marriage. She died in 1997. The good news is we are in contact and she is sending me some photo's of her which I am very excited about. She also told me that she had 15 siblings and they lived in Plantation street in Killyleagh, Down Patrick. So if anyone with Irish tips can point me in the right direction in searching for her siblings. Thanks.

1911 census for Co. Down just put online last week. Looks like this could be Annie Rooney with family living at Shrigley Village, Killyleagh: Patrick Rooney 30 agricultural labourer, wife Annie 25 married 8 years mother of 4 children, Patrick 6, Cathiern 5, Sarah 3, Annie 1.

I wonder if that is her because on her death certificate it says she was born 12 July 1912 in Belfast. I know she was in Killyleagh in the late 1920's but do not know when the family moved there. She also lied about her age on 2 marriage certificates so we don't really know what her age was.

Information on death certificate was given by an informant who could easily not have known correct date but you are wise to be sceptical since her age wasn't consistant in earlier records.
What about the relative you were in contact with that mentioned 15 children in the family? If you could find names of older children you might be able to pin down parents and older siblings in 1911 census.

Just found out that Annie Rooney's mother was called Annie Andrews which confirms the birth I found sometime ago on Ancestry Ireland but was not sure if that was here because of the conflicting stories about her date of birth.

Date Of Birth  11/02/1910
Date of Baptism  14/02/1910
First name  ANNIE
Surname  ROONEY
Fathers  PATRICK   ROONEY
Fathers Occupation  LABOURER
Mother   ANNIE ANDREWS

The address says 51 Lisburn road Belfast which I have just found from a link posted by,Christopher, was a Union Workhouse and also says father's address unknown. I am taking a guess that it is them in the 1911 census which aghadowey posted. There were 17 siblings in total most of them born in Killyleagh

aghadowey,

Yesterday I spoke to a son of Annie Rooney's brother Patrick who is on the 1911 census you found for me. He has confirmed that it is the correct family you found. I found the son by putting a message in the Down Recorder asking for any information on the Rooney family. Thanks.
