1851 Census Norfolk - Parnell
« on: Sunday 13 November 05 09:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Could someone please look at the 1851 Census for a John Parnell born abt 1795 with daughter Caroline born about 1834.  I need to know what John Parnell's occupation was.  They are living at Norwich, St Martin at Oak.  Ancestry will not load the page.

Thanking you

Hi Jabawak,

Thank you for the lookup.  I hope that printer 101 means that he was a shawl printer.

I now need to find him with family on the 1841 Census to see if he had a daughter Charlotte born abt 1830.  Then I will know for sure he is mine.

Hi Ray,

I know nothing about my Parnell line yet.

I have a Charlotte Parnell born abt 1830, marriage cert has John Parnell, shawl printer on it for her father.

I was interested in that particular entry on the census as my Charlotte Parnell married in Feb 1828 to Charles ENGLAND had three children Charles born before the marriage and Mary Ann born 1849 (my GG Grandmother who married George Beazley and came to New Zealand) and Caroline born 1852.

Have you ever looked at  the 1841 Census in Norwich for Parnell.  I will get some films in next year for the St Martin at Oak area and see what I can find.

Your Ann Parnell may be a sister of my John always worth keeping in mind.

Decided to have a look at familysearch before finishing this.

I wonder if the Jn born to Benjamin and Ann (nee Bear) Parnell on 18 Jan 1796 is mine. I take it that these are Ann's parents.

Have you ever found anything on any of the other children of Benjamin and Ann Parnell?

Let's keep in touch
Christy

Hi Christy
I have most of the census for Norfolk,so did look thro the 1841 for Parnell  St Martin at  Oak.Several of my Cookes came from this area.Did not see a Parnell, but the census is differcult to read in places
Parnell:
Benjarman Parnell married Ann Bear(e) March 17th 1793 at St Saviour Church Norwich
Found so far two children:
Elizabeth Parnell born March 28th 1798 at St James Pockthorpe Norwich
Ann Parnell born  born Oct 4th 1793 St Martin at Oak Norwich
Ann Parnell married my Joseph Cooke on the 14th Nov1813 St Martin at Oak,(this was Joseph 1st Marr )
I don;t think Ann parnell was a well woman because the banns were read April 5th,12th ,19th April 1812,but married 1813,this did cause a problem in finding the marr as its expected close to the last bann reading
I have found no children from the marriage of Ann & Joseph,
I live only a few mins from the Norwich RO so checking Parish records is not a problem

Hi Ray,

I found these children for Benjamin and Ann (nee BEAR) Parnell on the IGI using familysearch.org
Ann born 4 Oct 1793 christened 13 Oct 1793 Saint Martin at Oak Norwich
Jn born 18 Jan 1796 christened 24 Jan 1796 Saint James Pockthorpe, Norwich
Eliz born 28 Ma 1798 christened 1 Apr 1798 Saint James Pockthorpe, Norwich
William born 9 Sep 1801 christened 13 Sep 1801 Saint James Pockthorpe, Norwich
Mary christened 24 Jan 1804 Saint Paul Norwich

My next question would be have you ever found the deaths for Benjamin and Ann Parnell?

If you find my John Parnell on the 1841 Census.  I would like to have the details.
Hopefully the one on the 1851 census found already is the right one.  I am looking for a John Parnell with a daughter Charlotte born abt 1830 on the 1841 Census.

A few years ago I was in contact with a lady doing a one name study on Parnell her daughter was in a serious accident and she was never able to be contacted again.
I cannot remember her name.  Will have to check my old emails and see if I kept the contact it would have been about 1998.

Is there anyway we can chat when we are both online?

Regards
Chrisy
