Hi Althea,

I am in contact with Adrian Eddy...it's a great site.

I notice on your profile that you have the name MATtHEWS in your family.

On Richard Eddy and Eliza Jane Thomas marriage certificate 1898, the witnesses names are John and Margaret Matthews. Are these two people in your family as I can't see the connection so far with mine?????

Hi Smurf.

I have just received the Will of Richard Eddy b1871...died 1902....who was a Gold Miner.

He was the son of Sarah Trembath and Richard Eddy, it appears from the Will he never married as a wife was not metioned...the Will was written a month before his death.

At least now I know he is not my ggrandfather....back to the drawing board. ::) ::)

Hi Ambers,

I've been contacted by someone on Ancestry regarding the message I placed re Richard Eddy, on your behalf.  It sounds like this lady has the information you are looking for regarding Richard and his wife Janey and the 2 children, Richard and Doris Eddy.  She confirms that Richard EDDY died shortly before Doris was born.  If you still think this is YOUR Richard EDDY, it may be worthwhile writing to her.  Please PM me and I will give you her email address.  Fingers crossed that this is the breakthrough you are looking for.  I'll be away over Easter ...  Have a good Easter.

Regards
CP

Hi there, I stumbled over some people on Ancestry while doing my family tree (Sweatman) and found various names (Newton, Lutey, James, Phillips, etc and Eddy. They seemed to live around St Just, Cornwall, also Zennor, Bosigran, Madron and Penzance in 1700s and 1800s. I haven't found connections to my tree yet (someone mentioned Clarke/Gould, I have some of those - maybe a clue) but I live in Cornwall so may go and have a look. Other names in the tree were Rowe, Hocking (classic Cornish names), Hosking (Wales), matthews, Phillips. Pls get in touch if looking for Eddy. Also worth looking up "Bosigran Castle" as Borlase family leased land to Eddy family.

There is a burial record for Richard Eddy buried at Pendeen Chapel on October 1, 1902 age 31. He lived at Trewellard Cliff in St. Just.
The record is on the Cornwall OPC Database.
