But I have confirmed my GGrandfather Taylor Swainson the engineer and one of the pioneers of the steam engine
I've got him as well! See my page on the Swainson line http://www.ianewilliamson.co.uk/gen/lines/Swainson.html
Would be good to get in touch.

My third cousin, 1x removed, John Albert Dykins - married Julia (Judy) Elizabeth Stanley in 1944. They had two daughters. However, Julia also had a son from a previous marriage called... John Winston Lennon... :)

That's the most famous person I've found so far. Pop royalty even if not any actual royalty... LOL

Cheers all

Ms_C

They were never actually married. Julia was married to John's father, Alfred Lennon, until she died in 1958.

No famous ancestors at all...'Tho one aunt tried hard to convince us all we were descended from Robert the Bruce (absolutely no evidence, even she couldn't suggest any)
BUT
Do share some ancestors, further back, with the ancestors of:
Pierrepoint, the last hangman.
Alex Salmond, Scottish politician
Eric Morecambe, comedian.
and tenuously, Sir Alec Clegg, educationalist!
-but it's all mega -distant.

Just found that the John Desboro in my tree is Sir John Desborough (other spellings seen), was a prominent parliamentarian, and married Jane Cromwell, Oliver’s sister

On my paternal tree my grandfather's cousin's wife's grandfather was Dr A. Alzheimer. I've got an even more convoluted link to the Duke of Wellington on my maternal tree. Both just related by marriage rather than blood, though.

I keep seeing this thread and thought I'd mention that I'm a fifth cousin of actress Charlotte Rampling. She may protest, but she is descended almost entirely in the female line from John Skelcey of Cubbington, brother of my ancestor Thomas Skelcey from whom my mother is descended in the paternal line.

I hesitated about mentioning this, but her short autobiography provides details that confirm her immediate ancestors.

Now proved by DNA actually. I'm proved related to John Skelcey descendants, and although there's no match yet for Charlotte, she is descended from him entirely in the female line.

Skelcey (Skelsey Skelcy Skeley Shelsey Kelcy Skelcher) - Warks, Yorks, Lancs
Hancox - Warks
Green - Warks
Draper - Warks
Lynes - Warks
Hudson - Warks
Morris - Denbs Mont Salop
Davies - Cheshire, North Wales
Fellowes - Cheshire, Denbighshire
Owens - Cheshire/North Wales
Hicks - Cornwall
Lloyd and Jones (Mont)
Rhys/Rees (Mont)
