Although not blood relations of mine, I did come across Robert and Richard Dighton the other day whilst investigating the family of a second wife of a 2nd Cousin 3 Times Removed.

Robert and Richard Dighton were father and son and both portrait painters of London and a Google search for them brings up some further information.

Absolutely nobody famous in Mrs. Hat's tree, although her mother is still insisting, despite no evidence, that she is related to Bonnie Prince Charlie............. ???

I blame the medication.

I have also just come across Annie Grimson, daughter of Samuel Dean Grimson (a Professor of Music, according to the census).

She was a pianist and composer in her own right and took a scholarship at the RCM.

She is the niece of Ann Grimson, who was the mother of the individual mentioned above who's second wife was related to the Dightons.

I've just found out that I'm almost certainly a 5th cousin to a famous wild-child actress of the 60s who I won't name as she's still around. (Connection is pre-1837 so usual caveats).

I have just found out that I am a 5th cousin twice removed to.........wait for it.....The Kray Twins.  :o :o :o

Their maternal grandmother Mary Ann Houghton was born in 1878 and she was the daughter of Thomas Houghton born in 1853 in Bethnal Green. Thomas's father was James Houghton and his mother was Mary Diggins born in 1812. Mary Diggins mothers maiden name was Obay. Mary Obay is the daughter of my 6xgreat grandparents Samuel and Elizabeth Obay nee Newman. Obay has been known to be spelt as Auber as well. Samuel was a witness to Mary's marriage. He also witnessed the marriages of a few other children including Elizabeth born 1779, William born 1778 and Samuel born 1773.

Tonight I discovered my grandfather's cousin had an important job for General Motors Corp. and his wife (whom I'd never heard of before) was a spy during WWI :o

Way back in the late 1700s, my 3xgt grandfather was married to the sister of Duncan Dunbar II, "the Aristotle Onassis" of the time.  There were 3 children of this marriage - however DDII's sister died at only 25, and gt-gt-gt grandad remarried (my line, ... wouldn't you know?!).

There's supposed to be a link between my mother's Kinnears and the famous actors by that name (Greg and/or Roy - haven't found it yet) ... and also - although similarly I have yet to see proof - some connection with Sean Connery.  There's some hypothesis about the "root" name - Connaire - and its origins in Ireland, as I understand.

???
