Celia's Rake Lane + burial.look up
« on: Friday 05 November 04 19:12 GMT (UK) »
Hello There has been an interest in Burials in the  Rake Lane Cemetery. I can do a look up If you give me enough information Like death year (not i think year ;D) and possible  religion, thats important. It would be appreciated if you could look up the death First if you are not sure of the year or the nearest possible year. before requesting a Burial lookup. This will save me time and assure that the person did die in the area. The burials go back to the  late 1800 (Flaybrick and Rake Lane only)  And give the address of the deceased person.   Archives only open Thursday Friday and half day Saturday By appointment. Other cemeteries I can do a burial look up for are

Landican Cemetery  Opened 1934
Plymyard Cemetery Opened 1930
Frankby Cemetery  Opened 1940
Wallasey Cemetery, Rake Lane. Opened 1883
Heswall   Opened 1960
Flaybrick Memorial Gardens (formerly Flaybrick Cemetery) 1864

UPDATED 26TH NOVEMBER 2004

I HAVE NOW HAD A REPLY TO MY QUERIES FROM THE ARCHIVIST AS TO HOW MANY DIFFERENT RELIGIONS THEY HAVE ON FILM IN THE BURIAL INDEX.SO I KNOW HOW MANY  FILMS I MIGHT HAVE TO LOOK THROUGH IF THE RELIGION IS NOT KNOWN ;) THEY ONLY HAVE TWO RELIGION'S KEPT SEPARATE C.O.ENGLAND & CATHOLIC.  ALL OTHER RELIGIONS ARE ON THE NONE CONFORMIST FILM. SO IF YOU ARE NOT SURE OF THE RELIGION BUT KNOW YOUR ANCESTORS WERE NOT CATHOLIC. THAT WILL MAKE ANY FUTURE LOOK UPS  MUCH MORE EFFICIENT

Karen Would i be right in thinking that you think Seacombe is in Birkenhead ??? Seacombe is in Wallasey, but it does rub shoulders with Birkenhead Town. I don't know about the houses in B/Head still standing they have done a lot of Demolition in B/Head the last few years.Edith Road is though and probably Beaconsfield. While i am waiting to do you first request I will see if i can remember where the seacombe roads are and take a couple of photo's for you over the next few days.As for your question about Ordering a death certificate You need to know the place the person died and the year. Also if they were married the name of the deceased husband/wife .for instance if you wanted the death certificate of  a person that died  in Seacombe the registration office is in Birkenhead so you just apply there giving them as much info as possible. You don't need an exact date. Certificates cost £7.50

Hi Andrea saw you post today,so i presume you found your birth and peter?was it? sent you a census.that's good news for you. If it's not raining tomorrow Sunday i will go and see if i can find  That McNab Headstone for you. The plot is by the cemetery lodge so i am hoping it's in better condition than the others. As far as i remember it's got a lot of headstones on it. It would be nice to find a Head Stone i was looking for cos i haven found one yet :(
for variouse reasons. I know Tudor Avenue is around somewhere  because I've seen it. but i cant find it on the street map is it in seacombe? When i do would you be wanting a photo?

Hi Celia....No I didnt find the birth certificate...Who is Peter...I dont know about him sending anything to me. I paid to look at the 1901 Census yesterday online...but couldnt find out anything else. 5 pounds went really quickly. ;)
I looked up 8 Tudor Avenue in the multimaps..its situated right under the Kingsway..is that the road over the Mersey or under? Its in Seacombe. My Aunt was born at that house  in 1912 and my Mother in 1916, so I assume that their parents(Isabel & William) were living there when they were born. I know Leonora, Thomas's other daughter married in 1903. Are there any directories for Seacombe after 1901?
Its been storming here so we have had flooding..hope its stopped raining there  :)
Cheers
Andrea :D

Hi Andrea my mistake about your source for the census, Do i have your email number? so i can answear some of your other questions. My Brains overloaded at present cant remember ::) Anyway good news found you stone and i didn't have to do any work, easiest job i have had so far. The only thing i have done is change the contrast so it can be seen better. I have also not made it smaller as i don't have to put the inscription on as well. so now it's on RootsChat your family can see it. I haven't yet found a way of printing one post out.so i will send you one to your email address
Have had to remove photo for time being.

P.S Andrea the headstone seems to be deep in the earth as it is rather short .I did tread the grass down and pull  small amount of soil away. The inscription continues further down after the last line you can see. It would have been irresponsible of me to pull away the soil in the front. Because i don't know how deep it is.I would hate to contribute to it's fall in later years. I looked at that map as well cant figure it out though. not being a driver i am usless at map reading. I get lost in the supermarket ;D
