Hi
I spent a couple of hours in the library today Revising ;D
in this case Obbituaries in the newspaper that are on film.I now have the information.
Deaths as they appear in the personel colume. The index only gives the surname,date/day/month year of the paper the orbit was in.so i will need to know the date of death.just in case 10 jones died in the same month.I then have to ask for the film with that newspaper on it.
Quote; The deaths index also includes."Killed an Action" "Died of Wounds" "Roll of Honour"Announcements.
Death index to the Wallasey News 1899-1950
                                   "            "     1951-1990
                  Wallasey Choronicals    1899-1956

Now while i was revising i used some names to play with and i found for maybe Lorrie.127 orbit Aldred 1/5/1965
Toad. Fishwick 11/7/1908 & 24/10/1908. 18/12/1937
Marriage Fishwick. 9/4/1921
H.B.Hughs(Hilary). Gascoyne orbit 4/5/1907. 8/5/1907

Hi Celia, it is Jacquie again.   Is there an Edmund Eddowes in the Wallasey news, 1962/63?

If you happen to be looking again at the newspapers, would appreciate you keeping his name in mind.

Thanks   Jacquie

Hi Jacquie
Thats all i can do is to keep an eye open.Un-found requests always stay in my mind.I told you didn't i ?that i looked at my first film last week.I was getting acquainted with the reference book that gives tha dates as said above.I did see an Eddowes reference for an orbit in 1965 in the book.so got the right film for the date given but it wasn't Edmund.I had meant to copy it out just in case.Unfortunately i was so excited with an unexpected find in the same paper ,i forgot ::) It is a bit of a drawback with first names not being given.Beacause if you don't know the year a person died.it means you would have to look up every Eddowes that did.So lets hope not to many did in the years you have. Next time i go to the library i will go through the book, and see if i can find any.If there isn't any.that means no one put the orbit in.wont take long to find that out.

Hi Toad

Thanks to your Hanna Fishwick burial of 1906,(much to the amazement of the Archivist i might add ;D)solve the mystery of that strange plot number you told me about. The one i gave you was right ,
It is strange isn't it? looks like a rounded ,on the bottom W but with the stick crossed like a t  then a break and a crossed on the next two.Never seen anything like it before only on Startrek ;D Having looked on the C.O.E burials Film and  not finding the first two.I decided i wouldn't find the others as they seem to be one family, that died in the 1890's.I then switched to the Non-Con film where i found them, and the odd number. After mulling over it, i asked the archivist if she knew what it was supposed to be.She didn't and had been asked before, she had also tried to find out with no luck. I found Thomas,Hugh, James & Hanna. Now the first three had the same odd letter.Obviously transcribed by the same hand. One of those was in grave 170. Now i came to Hanna she was transcribed by a different hand.So that said she was on plot 13G in Grave 170.I checked my notes to find i hadn't put the grave number on two of them. went back and found all four are in the same grave 170 on plot 13G.Told the archivist i had translated it.Think was pleased ;D

1893.buried October 14th Thomas Fishwick age 30. Fireman 0f 48, Caroline Terrace, Union St. MoB 3rd class grave no 170. Plot 13G

1895.W.B.May 1st Hugh Fishwick age 56, Caroline Terrace Egremont.

1898. May 28th James Fishwick age 24. 45 Union St Egremont

1906. W.b June 15th age 56. Hanna Fishwick,3,Back King st Egremont.

1911. D.B  March 14th George Fishwick age 80,38 Barnaby St  M.o.B. sub 4 class plot 13g Forgot to put the grave number on.its 385. you can only have 4 burials in one grave

Many thanks for that Celia at least I wasn't going daft when I wrote those weird letters  ;D I remember taking the notes and copying them as closely as possible and you have just described what they looked like perfectly! Perhaps that is were the makers of Startrek got the Klingon language from ;). At least it has solved a puzzle. After stomping around Rake Lane the other day,as I said there does not seem to be any sign of the grave were I would think it should be, never mind I have a nice photo of a patch of grass :'(. I wonder if our ancestors realized that when they paid out for the headstones and plots they would just be left to dissapear and be vandalized.
By the way Celia the things you found in the Wallasey News:
Fishwick 11/7/1908 & 24/10/1908. 18/12/1937
Marriage Fishwick. 9/4/1921
are these just lines with who died/married and dates or would there be likely to be more info ?
One of these days I will get up to the library to help you, just a pity I don't drive :'(
 Thanks Pat

Hi Pat
The orbits will probably be the same as todays Wallasey News. Don't  know what i will find till i look on the film. As with today it depends how much money they had.The more money you can afford the more space you get. I have an orbit  from the 50's of a G.Uncle in Stafford. It practically told me his life story.Plus every single person that attended the funeral.and who sent all the flowers. Mind you he was well known ;) In the case of a marriage that is well worth looking up as well.because it tells you the parents of the bride and bits and pieces. If your lucky there might be a photo, but i dont think they would print out to well.Hope i dont get anymore suprise finds like i did last week. Nearly fell off me chair ;D

Hi again Celia,
If you have chance then can you have a look to see what it says about those Fishwicks? Really must send you a box of choccys for all this work you are doing ;) What was the reason you nearly fell off your chair? Have I missed something the few days I was away? ;D.  I am finding more and more that I am not searching futher back with my tree most of the time but want to know how and were these ancestors lived :) To think I hated history in school :-[

Hi Celia,
You may have found an Aldred reference?
Would love details if you have them. I still have not found Rose's grave although may have found a possible WW1 death for her husband Thomas.
Appreciate your time in helping locate my family.
Regards
