Hi Celia,
Just found your post from 2004!
Can you still do look up's for Rake Lane  Cemetery, Wallasey?

I'm trying to help a friend with his tree, his Grandfather Arthur Irving died 05 Jan 1963.
He was buried there with his parents in grave 352.

Kind regards
Sally

I can ;D Welcome to Rootschat ;D
You friend knows when Arthur died and where he is buried and the grave is known.so is it the fuller information from the burial record you want.

Celia  - thank you so very much for the information about Harold Moody.  I don't recognise the other Moodys but I will do a little sleuthing about them and get back to you if they are related (thank you for that offer!).  I really appreciate your help.  Do let me know if you need any looks-up in Hampshire RO or the Portsmouth area.

Best wishes
Ruth

Hi Celia,
Thank you so much.
My friend knows next to nothing of his grandfather, so we are clutching at straws.
I understand he was 51 when he died on 05 Jan 1963 & he has the plot no. as 352.
His address at the time was 97 Raleigh Rd, Leasowe, Wirral.

We don't know where he was born & can't locate his birth, so his age may be wrong!
He thinks that his grandfather (Arthur Irving) was burried in the same plot as his parents,
if so, this will be of great help in locating the right family.
Kindest regards
Sally

Celia

P.S Do you by any chance know the name of Arthurs parents whom he was buried with and when they died.I might as well look for there burials as well. Then you might be able to work up from them

Hi Celia,
I assume they were C of E, but can't sure.
I have no idea of Arthur's parents, I was hoping the grave details would include
his parents names if they are in the same plot!?? ::)
Thank you so much for looking, I was running out of ideas as to how to find the family.
Regards
Sally

Unfortunately Rake lane burial records only do just that, have a burial record for one person. They don't have(available to the Public) Grave records, where once you have the grave number you can see who else in buried in it.

There isn't a burial for Arthur for the year 1963 for C.O.E and non con.I didn't look in the catholic burials,Can you re-check the information is correct the grave number seems a bit high for the size of the sections.Has your friend got the death cert For Arthur because that will give the age at death. Has he got the actual grave information, green :-\ ticket that was supplied to family. My mum had one for her parents grave. If you haven't got anyfurther info i will go back and look on the catholic film.

Hi Celia,
Thank you so much for your time & effort.
I querried Arthur'r religion with my friend last night, his reply was ...

Ellen (the wife) was a catholic, but Arthur was the black sheep of his family, so I doub't he will be of any religon.

So he may well be in the Catholic section.
I had assumed that the indexes would have given details of all those burried in the plot.
Since it does not, I don't think we could learn anything new from the burial records.

Looks like we might have to make a day trip out from Yorkshire in the Spring to visit the cemetery!
Is there a map with grave numbers on it at the cemetery? :)

Kind regards
Sally
