Hi Nelly
i am getting famous aren't  i ;) Australia, New Zealand,Canada ;D Anyway welcome to rootschat,I will do my best to help. The first thing i will do is check for any burials in Rake lane, from 1883 when it opened. The only other cemetery for  earlier dates i can look in is flaybrick,in Birkenhead that opened in1864. The other four didn't open till the fourties, fifties and sixties .Any years earlier than 1864 would have been in Church yards. So i will check On the St Hilary's church yard  burial's, that is a very old church and is also in Liscard. B,M.D records go back to Adam and eve ;D  will get back to you at the end of the week. I hope my instructions get you to the topic with no problem

Celia P.S I forgot to ask, do you by any chance know the religion of the family? C.O.E. Catholic, or Non-conformist.This helps because different religions are on separate films. So it makes it quicker if it is known. If not don't worry i can look through them all,it just takes a bit longer.

I have some very good news for you,and me ;D i am pleased to say, good news for you because my findings will tell you things you probably didn't know.Good news for me because it was unexpected. Have you seen my last  post yet. As i said i was to have looked at the catholic film. Then at the weekend go to the library in Birkenhead To look in the landican film to see if i could find Frederick there. Then i was going to return to wallasey library at a later date to see if i could find an orbit or article about his death. However it being a cold day i decided to go and look on the catholic film first in Wallasey library. For some reason though i asked for the wallasey news film1958,and guess what? I found an article in the Sat July 19th 1958 edition 8)
Reporting the death of Mr F.M.Seddon :  I had already checked the reference book to the papers orbits, but There was no mention of one. I thought i would look anyway because Articles don't come under orbits.I have coppied it all out word for word i just have to type it out for you.. Do you want it ;D ;D ;D

Sorry I haven't been in touch, I was on holiday at the beach enjoying our on again/off again summer.

I would most definitely love a copy of anything you have found, I'm just blown away that you would do this for me.

Thank you so much

Hi Celia,
Thanks for the newspaper clipping, that was brilliant! :) ;D

It has given us lots of information we didn't know and my father-in-law is chuffed.

I've now got lots of extra leads to follow up, thanks so much for your help.

If there's anything I can help with in NZ please let me know.

Liz

Hello,
I'm new to this site and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they have come across the grave of one Joseph Hancock at the Rake Lane cemetery? He was born in Hanley, Staffordshire in 1832. He was a master mariner and in his later years worked as the long shore superintendant for Andrew Gibson and Co of Liverpool. I believe he died in 1895. I have been told that he lived in Wallasey in his later years, but have no clue as to where he was buried, either at the parish church or the cemetery. I hope to travel up to Liverpool and Birkenhead later in the year, but if anyone has any information I would be very pleased to hear from them.
