Hi Toad
Quote
Deaths as they appear in the personnel column

are these just lines with who died/married and dates or would there be likely to be more info ?
Yes you are right the reference is only to the Personnel column so that all you get. Articles are not given but if you know when a person died there is a possibility there might be a Death and funeral announcement,an article.Like this one,part of, From the wallasey news sat April 9th 1921.
Death of Mrs Peers.We Regret to report the death of Mrs Margaret Peers,Widow of the late Mr George peers,which occurred at "Briar Nook" Leasow Road Wallasey on Thursday evening March 31st,the same day as her nephew,Mr Henry Joynson,age 73 years.The internment took place on Monday at St Hilary (to long to type all)

I just had to copy this one out because of the description,if i close my eyes i can see it ;D  A Marriage again part of

Bladon and Thompson.Pretty Spring wedding.
A very pretty spring wedding was celebrated  at Manor road Wesleyon Church on Saterday last. When Mr C.A Bladon,eldest son of Mr & Mrs I.E Bladon,of 17 Oxton Road,was married to Miss Ada Thompson,Youngest daughter of Mr & Mrs J Thompson,of 23 Upper Rice lane Wallasey.The bride charmingly dressed in in silver net,trimmed with frills of silk net,silver ribbon,beads, and orange blossom.With veil,shoes and stockings to match,and carrying a sheath of lilies,was given away by her father.The two bridesmaids,sisters of the bride,wore lemon crepe de chine and lavender Georgette dresses,with hats to match,lemon shoes and stockings.The bouquets being of lemon and lavender Tulips.
It then goes on to say what everyone else wore .hard to read though because of lines through the paper.

    Griffith grave in Rake Lane
« on: Today at 12:50:12 »

~~~~~~~~
Hello Celia.
Next time you are in Rake Lane Cemetary could you please look and see if you can spot the grave of my Grandma  Florence Griffith? She died at Victoria Central Dec 1950 and was living at Castle Rd at the time. Her husband may be buried with her ---his name was Joseph Henry Griffith and he died at St Cath's in B/H Jan 1960. I think they were Presbyterian or C of E.
I know you are run off your feet, and there is no urgency about this.
Thanks very much.
Ann.
Hello Ann
it isn't possible to walk round Rake lane and look for a grave you can only that in a churchyard ;D.Rake Lane has over 40 plots and thousands of  headstones.Thats why i have to do lookups so i can find the plot. Are these people defiantly buried in this cemetery.If so i will be able to find them on film because you have given me information. If you are not sure i will wait till i have to visit the Archives on another matter.Then check on it while i am there.
Hi Lorrie
I will look up the reference to he Aldred orbit (see previous page) on the film next week.Getting results wont be as fast as looking in books.Because the print was very small in those years, also parts of the paper are faded,so a bit of a strain on the old eyes ;D As Mentioned above the reference is only for the entries in the personnel column.Wont know if they connect till i look,They don't include Articles again as said but if a date is known for a  D i might find a article.The orbit as you can see is for 1965.Might this be related to you in anyway?
Thanks for the Gascoyne obit. How could I find out if it's my Gascoynes ?
    Also do you think my Grandfather's obit. would be there . He was a Master Mariner (pilot ) who died in 1945. His name was Ernest Samuel Davies , and he lived at 167 Mount Pleasant Road Wallasey.
Hi Hilary
What i sent you was  a Monumental inscription taken from the gravestone in Rake Lane.That is different from an obituary which is an announcement  of a death in a newspaper.As to how you can find out if the Gascoynes are yours are not.Well you just have keep on with your tree for the next few years in case they are ;D I haven't got a M.I for
E.S Davies. I dought very much if i would find an orbit in the newpaper for that year.Because some papers were not printed in the war years.
Hello Jacquie
as you can see Edmund still hasn't turned up, Eddowes is an uncommon name.During my research through many books and films of various subjects .I have not come across more than 5/6  Eddowes.Those have been in the postal directories for 1961 Birkenhead, Wallasey.So i have come to the conclusion that these few Eddowes in both districts are related. I paid two visits to the library today,and found the orbit i told you about in 1918.Might be to far back for you to connect at the moment but it might come in later.The side edge of the orbit didn't make onto the film it was also hard to read ;D it might make more sense to you than me.
Orbit from Wallasey News  9.3.1918
Eddowes Marion 2nd at 5,Oakdale Road,Secombe,George A Eddowes Beloved husband of Ann Eddowes age 50. Late of the cleansing department,Wallasey corporation.Was interned at Rake Lane on Wednesday ?
As the paper comes out on Saturdays it was probably the Wednesday before.They worked faster then ;D
