Its fifty years since i was last in school and i have to say .I have learnt or is that leard;D more History than i ever did in school .During the last eighteen months especially about the area i live.Today because 1  i found what i was looking for, quickly, 2 I had never had reason to look in Flaybrick, & 3 the writing was so beautiful and so clear.I decided to start at the beginning.
All the burials except for the odd one or two who lived in seacome were of Birkenhead people. I came across what i thought a very sad occurrence. In December 1866 and January 1867.It seems a whole or most of a family of McNulty died.Four of them in the same month.A Male McNulty age 40 died December 1866.Female age 30 died January1867.She was followed in the same month by three children 3/6/8/ approx.
The abode of this stricken family was Birkenhead workhouse. Going further on i found lots more people from the workhouse. What happened in those years ??? Then it seemed to slow down.It brought to mind the time's i have read on Rootschat.Where did the family go? they were on the 1861 census but not on the 71 or 81. Makes you think doesn't it ???

Hi Celia
I have been going through all your brilliant information on this site. Could you do a lookup for me for my grandmother who died 19 01 65. Her name was Winifred Davies (nee Gascoyne )She died in the sub district of Wallasey aged 62 years. She was Church of England. I think Rake Lane would be the best bet .Also could you find a grave for Gascoyne, my great grandparents, who were also from Wallasey, Robert and Annie. They were Church of England too. Are there any other Gascoyne graves as they could be relatives as it's an unusual name.

Celia Many thanks for that, so the name was put down as Greer in the burial records? No wonder I have had such a job of chasing this family! I wonder if there is a headstone? I am going to try and get round my hubby for a lift up there so I can have a little look ;D. Will let you know if I find any thing.

Hi again Celia, just thought I would let you know that we had a little walk( more like hike ;) ) around sec 2 of Flaybrick today as the weather was nice, it makes me SO mad to see what some people are doing to some of the beautiful memorials in our cemetery's :'(. Anyway that is another subject. Hubby and I think we have found were Williams grave was, but as you can see from picture there is no sign of a headstone, maybe its buried? but we are more of the inclination that the tree in the photo has taken over were the grave once was :(
At least I know were he was laid to rest now and I suppose that with all the vandalism going on it is better to find no headstone at all than one smashed to pieces, thanks again for finding it for me,

Jan Taylor Researching Lutas

Hi Jan
I wont go into detail but this morning i found myself on a Catholic plot fourth row back from the edge.Standing by an old gravestone that contained the family of Lutas/Lutus.It mentioned a Grandson of a Phoebe and John plus a lot more.I had no Paper and the camera i always carry around let me down.So i Have come back for the other one.I cant remember the details from last year. Was, Phoebe? Married to John. ???

Hi Toad/Pat

What a shame about the tree,Flaybrick like all cemeteries will have a chart.Showing the exact place the grave is, on each plot. This was for the use of the grave Diggers only.So not available to the public. As burials no longer take place there(do they?I don't know much about Flaybrick)I am not sure who holds those postcards size charts. If you can find out maybe you will find the grave. In Rake Lane people seem to be uncovering the graves of their ancestors themselves ;D
