Hello Celia, hope all is well with you. may I ask if you could look up another person in Rake Lane cemetery?
I am looking for the grave of Leonard Henry Pears who died in 1942. I think he was about 54 when he died. Also I wonder if his wife, May (or Mabel) Elizabeth Pears is buried there about 1963? I have been told that this is where they were buried, but have no definite proof. Can you help I wonder?
Many thanks, Elsbeth

Hello Elsbeth
When you make a request would you be kind enough to put it on this topic (I have done it for you ;))and not a P.M.   When you click Celia's Rake Lane, just click on the Reply button. Then you can read the pages and any messages. As you can see i am not available at the moment and am sending this from Australia.
So i will do your lookup at a later date.

Celia

Hello Elsbeth and Lorrie
I am Back now to catch up with your requests :D I will be going to the research library next week to do some lookups. If the library has not put the automatic  (fast forward & rewind) film reader back i might not get much done.It takes forever on those older machines they put in.So if i have the right burial year and cemetery i will do those first. i will report back next week with any finds

Was somebody looking for a Thomas Davies ???

Celia

P.S The variouse F.H.S for the wirral have transcribed over the years, all of the church Yard burials.Lots of them, and they are in my Library and easy to use.So i can look in those as well if anyone is interested

Hi Celia,
I wonder if you can give me some advice I am looking for a William Creer d Wallasey 1868, I am not sure if he was Catholic because he was married in a Catholic Chapel. Any ideas were I might find a Catholic burial from that year in Wallasey? Last address was Egerton St, New Brighton. I would be really greatfull if you have the time to give me some clues. I do live in the area and have spent a good few hours in the past few years scrambling round St Hilary's and Rake Lane looking for other bits of my family ;D and many hours in archives and library, have done quite well so far. Unfortunately at the moment I have a back injury and cant get around too well :'( I have a lot of info on the Creer family (unfortunately named as Green in some records in Wallasey library)but would love to try and maybe find a headstone??

Hello Toad
Its near impossible to find a burial if one has no idea where they were buried. In 1868 Most burials were in Churchyards. If i remember rightly council cem's didn't open till well after that date (these are shown on the first page)so you know they wont be in Rake Lane or any of the others. I do the lookups at Birkenhead Town Hall Library. However they don't have Church Burials. If you have spent time looking for burials in Wallasey Library. You will be aware that they hold  many M.I's for most of the churchyard burials in wirral. (Plus  many other publications by others with Marriage and births)All transcribed by the wonderfull volunteers from various F.H.S in wirral. The other drawback is although a person died in wallasey. It  doesn't mean to say they were buried there. You will also have noticed that in Rake lane there are lots of spaces.A lot of the headstons are grassed over(if you were looking for later burials. Can you let me know what  records you have looked at so far. I have used local libraries for years and keep finding ref books i never knew they had. Only the other day i found a book of burials for Christ Church Barnston In Wirral going back to the 16 hundreds,Amazing.

A POLITE NOTICE TO ALL

Due to previous experiences,in future, i will only do a lookup for burials in a known cemetery when the death year is known or, one as near as possible.I will do one for one cemetery if you are not sure which one.  if a death year is known. Unfortunately i can no longer go through all the films of burials in all the  (i think) cemeteries  to see if the burial is in that one for the year given. It is very time consuming   To look from Jan to December Page by page (while winding? a wonky wheel  ;D at the same time )and its not there. I could do the same thing with all the cemeteries and not find it so I hope you will understand and not be offended.

I will Always Look up Rake Lane,as first choice, for people who lived and died in the area as long as i have a death year,or near
