1841 census - Picken
« on: Tuesday 08 November 05 23:11 GMT (UK) »
Please could someone look up the 1841 census for Mary Ann Picken? I have her widowed in 1851 and aged 64 then. She's probably in Shifnall.

My fingers are crossed that her husband was alive in 1841, and his name was William. Ideally I would like him to be a coach builder, but I guess we can't always have everything!!

Thanks
Isobel

Actually - forget this. I think that I've tracked down this info elsewhere.

What I really want I think is whether there's a George Picken in the 1841 census in Shifnal. I know there are loads of Pickens around there. George must be born around 1780-1790.

Thanks

Hi Stuizzy,

I have had a look on 1841 census and the only George Picken born between 1780 and 1790 was this one in Tettenhall

H0107/998/18
George picken   55  farmer? (born in scot. ire. or foreign parts)
Sarah picken     45                born in county

did notice these, they were all born in Shropshire and were living in shifnal in 1841 if they are of any help:-

robert b. 1772
william b 1783
thomas b 1796

Wendy

Thank you. I'd sort of forgotten this line. You've reminded me about them and renewed my interest. I'll try to do some more tracking of this George.
