Hi Tazzie (& Rodney)

Weren't we looking at Badrick's a while ago?  I seem to remember this marriage....

So what have we got so far:
Handson
Handom
Handsom
Hanson
Anson
Hansom
Mariah/Maria

I'm now feeling very confused....I think I need to have another look after a good nights sleep.  Maybe it will all become clear  :-\

I'm suddenly glad I'm related to the White's of Chearsley rather than the Hanson/Badrick/Walker clan!!  ;)

Had another look at them all today.

Thomas and Mariah (nee Badrick) had 8 children (I think!):
Richard 1783, Thomas 1785, John 1786, Richard 1788, Elizabeth 1790, Sarah 1793, William 1795, Rebecca 1799
Mariah died in 1799

Thomas and Maria had 4 children:
James 1806, Maria 1808, John 1811, Thomas Savory 1813

It seems logical to assume (given the birth dates) that it is the same Thomas remarried to a different Maria BUT they would have had 2 children called John - the first John b1785 died 1868, the second John b1811.  This bothers me and makes me think that it is a different Thomas.
I wondered whether it might be his son Thomas (b1785), but then found he married Martha and had 2 children: Thomas & Maria, so had to discount him as he would have ended up with 2 Thomas's and 2 Maria's!!
MAYBE it's a completely different Thomas, although with all the similar family names, he could well have been a cousin of some sort.

I'm not sure I'm any clearer or that I have helped, just wanted to share my thoughts so far :-\

I'm also slightly concerned as I found a marriage between Sarah Hanson and Richard Ewers.  The Ewers are in my family tree and, believe me, they are just as complicated as the Hanson's!!  Maybe I am part of the clan after all  ;)

Hi Julie...

So the plot thickens .I tried writing this one down but that did not help . Could be cousins? My Walkers loved doing this children all of same age with same name.
Hanson has a big jump back to the 1600s so there would be a lot of ground to cover to find who lived where.

  ??? ??? ???
I f there is a connection -WELCOME- To a very extended clan .
Any ideas why your Richard EWERS is aka Verey!
I have James Walker marring Mary VEARY in 1860.

Thank God Chearsley is a small village we've got enough to deal with now :-\ :-\

     A very confused

Hi Tazzie (& Julie)

I have been following your investigations with great interest.

The second marriage of Thomas Hanson I was initially interested in occurred between 1871 and 1881 (to Sarah, born circa 1815 at Roxham).

I was wondering what happened to Maria & Joseph Walker.  They had a daughter, Elizabeth, circa 1860.  Do you have any information after that?

I would also be interested in what happened to Thomas and Hannah Hanson’s other children: Mary (born c1835), John (born c1837 and single and living at home in 1881), Elizabeth (born c1840), Thomas (born c1842 and widowed and living with his father in 1881), and James (born c1847).  Hopefully the records won’t be as confusing for this period!

Take your time in replying.

Rodney.

There is nothing in the Chearsley registers for Thomas & Sarah's marriage, presumably would have taken place in her parish.  It does have Sarah's burial record 29 Sept 1881 aged 67 and Thomas 17 Oct 1890 aged 77.

There are some details of Thomas & Hannah's son James (b.1845 & chr 1849).  He married Ellen Kirby in 1872 and had 8 children (that I can find) : Flora chr.1872, William chr.1874, Mary Maria chr. 1876, George chr. 1880, Emma Isabella chr. 1882, Kate chr.1884, Sarah chr.1886 & Ellen chr 1889.  Presumably you may have some of these details from the census.

There is also the second marriage of their son Thomas (c1842) on 7 Nov 1881 (after the census)
Thomas Hanson, 40, widower, Carrier of Chearsley, son of Thomas Hanson, Carrier
Mary Blake, 24, spinster of Chearsley, daughter of William Blake, Labourer.

I'll leave the Walkers to Tazzie....

PS Tazzie - I have no idea why Richard Ewers was AKA Verey, there are SO many Richard Ewers I'm not even sure which one he is!  Most of them lived in the nearby village of Ashendon.

Many thanks Julie for the information.  Did Ellen Kirby by any chance come from Shabbington?  James's brother, Richard (my g-g-grandfather), married Isabella Kirby from Shabbington in 1871.

The records have her as 'Servant of Chearsley' so presumably she was living in Chearsley, but the 1881 census has her born in Shabbington  ;D
Her father is named as William Kirby, Labourer.
The witnesses at the wedding were George Kirby and Ellen Carver.

Looks like the brothers may have married sisters  ;)
