BARRON: Looking for long-lost great uncle
« on: Saturday 05 November 05 16:37 GMT (UK) »
My Grandfather was born in Pennan, Banffshire, Scotland in 1914 and came
to Canada with his parents and all but one of his siblings (as well as
other family members) in 1923. His oldest brother, "Sandy" BARRON (I
assume his first name was Alexander....?) stayed behind in Scotland and
kept in touch with the family until the years during WWII, then they
lost contact. We assume he died in WWII, although no one was ever
notified of his death. We don't even know 100% if he even fought in
WWII. We also don't know if he had a wife/fiancee or any children.
"Sandy"/Alexander would have been born (I assume) after  the marriage
of his parents Alexander Walker BARRON & Christina R. SEIVWRIGHT in June
1905 at Rathven, Banffshire, Scotland and the birth of the next sibling,
John "Jock" Walker BARRON c.1909. His birth is not listed on Scotland's
People.
Does anyone have any advice as to how I could track down ANY
information on him, anything about his life and most importantly waht
happened to him?
I really hope to someday figure out this mystery, before my father's
generation get too much older (my dad is the "baby" of the family at 57,
but a lot of his cousins are in their 60's and 70's).

Thanks!!
Maggie Barron

This is not going to help you but in my family tree I have an Agnes Barron Hutchison
She married a Robert Brown in South Leith Midlothian Scotland.  She was possibly born on Burnt Island.  I have found that her mothers name was Marjory Charles Macdonald married to a (James? Hutchison)  I am not sure where the name Barron came from, as yet have not found anyone on that family line to associate with it.  But should I manage to find more information I will let you know; and if it looks like there is a connection I will inform you of that also.

I have a copy of a book called Family History Publications. Aberdeen & North-east Scotland family  history society. february 2009  It has census records which you can purchase and work out cheaper than those through SP as you can obtain copies of the complete census.

Maggie,
I found an Annie Barron married to a George Hall or Forbes (my memory) him a butler and she a servant in a large house.  This was around the Aberdeen area.  Sorry that I have not come across your Alexander Barron.
