TRACING A FAMILY MARRIAGE
« on: Friday 04 November 05 22:08 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find when and where my G.G.Grandfather was married. The information I have is as follows.
In the 1861 census my GGGrandfather George Taylor b1827 in Sunderland.
My GGGrandmother Catherine Taylor b1829 in Sunderland, both now living inSouth Shields, with three sons.
The 1851 census has them down as married, but with a different place of birth.
George Taylor b1827 South Shields.
Catherine Taylor b1828 South shields.
I would appreciate any help on this subject.
                                     Ellis.

Hallo, Ellis

Possibly the easiest way to find this out would be to get Catherine's maiden name.  You should find this on a birth certificate for one of their children.

Once you know Catherine's name there should be enough information to see if there are any likely marriages registered.

If you haven't tried FreeBMD yet, give it a go.

At the risk of offending any Wearsiders I wouldn't worry too much about the birthplace changing for Sunderland to South Shields - it often happens that details (especially ages!) vary from one census to the next.

All the best
Philip
