Searching for any information about my paternal ghrandfather

JAMES BARR Born 1869 Greenock, son of Neil Barr and Janet Nee Cameron

James had the middle name of Gilmour, but seems to have dropped the use of it.

He married in 1896 to Sarah Boyd, daughter of William Boyd & Catherine Carmichael
as of 1901 I have found three children Neil, Catherine  &  Cameron, were there any more?
In the 1901 census (Scottish) wife Sarah was described as "wife of soldier-reservist" which I have taken to mean that he may have been involved in the Boer War, at present trying to obtain more information on that

James died in 1913. Some years later Sarah remarried to William Southon, she died in 1949, informant on death certificate was her son C.Barr
she was at that time living at Campbell Street, Greenock.

How odd.    I have a desendent John Cathcart who married a "Janet Barr"  This is renfrew area.  She died 1853 born abt 1806.  The other name you mentioned of middle name Gilmour, is a desendent of mine Ann Gilmour who had a son James.   I did notice the Gilmours living with one of my Cathcart relatives.  Not sure if there is a link anywhere.  But if you happen to have those names you can contact me .

Janet Barr married George Aitken, Peter married Flora Beatson, Cameron married Ann Sutherland they had three children Ann 1915, Cameron 1921, John 1927

Sarah Boyd was my Grand Aunt, she lived at 26 Crescent St, her parents lived at 25 Crescent St Greenock
