What age is this photograph?

Hi,

Could anyone help me work out the age of this photograph?

The lady in the photograph was born in 1862, but I don't know when this sort of photograph became available to the general public.

Hi,

This looks like a Cabinet card photo which were popular from the late 1860s until around 1900.  They consisted of photos measuring about 4" x 5.5", mounted on trade cards measuring about 4.5" x 6.5".

The photographers, A & G Taylor (Andrew and George) had studio's across the country from 1866 to 1910. I did a quick google search and came across one entitled "The studio's of A&G Taylor" which not only gives the dates for their studio's but has a section on the types of cards that they used along with the dates for them. hope that it is of some help.

I'd say this is actually a carte de visite, which is smaller than a cabinet card.  These were available from 1859 till about 1905, which doesn't help much!  It's a bit hard to tell the lady's age, too, but at a guess I'd say about 30.  That would put the photo in the 1890s, if you are sure it is the person you think it is.  It would fit with her hairstyle and clothing, too.
