One of my elusive ancestor groups are from London.  My great grandfather was James Pond - his father was William and his mother was an Elizabeth Walters but that is all I know, he was born in the Clerkenwell area but I have no other information - any appreciated.

That's interesting Karen ... was just about to post my interests which include Ambrose POND born in Cornwall who decided to go to London he was a painter but on the 1901 census he is listed as a Cook.  His grandfather, James POND was born in Burnham Buckinghamshire around 1801.

That is interesting, unfortunately I don't think there is a connection at the moment, but will keep hold of the info in case I need to contact you again - I thought I was the only one in the world looking for Ponds!!

thanks for the reply Karen ... I thought I was the only POND researcher too!!!!  Do you know where you POND came from ... I thought it rather odd that Uncle Ambrose would just 'up and go' to London ... perhaps he knew of other family there ... yours ?

I haven't John ... not for London or Buckinghamshire.  My POND's went from Buckinghamshire to Cornwall ... Ambrose for some reason went to London.
