From the early years of the 20th century, it became customary for births in workhouses (and workhouse infirmaries) to be registered with the street address of the workhouse, or a made-up address where there wasn't an actual address. This was later extended to deaths.
I have several of these euphemistic addresses on (mainly death) certificates of people in my tree, with the informant being "the occupant" of the address, e.g.
1 Derby Road, Wesham (Fylde workhouse at Wesham, also known as the loony bin to my dad, whose grandmother it was who died there!)
32 Watling Street Rd, Fulwood (Preston workhouse)
The Lodge, Bowthorpe Rd, Norwich (Norwich workhouse)
etc
